On June 7, 2014, members of the White Oak High School Republicans traveled to the Dallas to meet in the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. There, the High School Republicans of Texas held their 2nd ever state meeting. Members and officers from all over the state arrived to take part in the annual meeting.
After moderated conversation among the attendees, Chairman Connor Griffin of Midway High School opened the meeting by calling the members to order. The Vice-Chairman, Shelby James of George West High School led the U.S. pledge and Treasurer Jorge Villarreal of Bellaire High School led the Texas pledge.
Various speakers stopped by at different times to address the group of students. The first speaker was State Senator Dan Patrick. Though he could not stay longer than a couple minutes, he took a few minutes to snap a few pictures with of the students and converse about their future plans.

The meeting was called back to order after the relatively free conversation with the Senator. Following this, U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s Campaign Manager, Brendan Steinhauser spoke about campaigning in Texas and as a Republican.
Next, State Senator and candidate for Attorney General Ken Paxton spoke on integrity and the value of being true to one’s self.
Finally came the elections. This year was particularly exciting for our club as our very own Chairman, Cade Palmer, was campaigning for State Vice-Chairman. In what we believe is a big step forward in our club’s state recognition, he won and now serves on the 2014-2015 HSRT Executive Board as the Vice-Chairman.
All in all, the convention was very beneficial to our members who attended. We can’t wait to spread the Republican message throughout the state of Texas this election season.
